Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Take an 8x8 cake pan and grease, set aside. Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups flour 1 cup packed dark or light brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon salt Mix dry ingredients and then add, stirring until smooth: 1 cup milk or buttermilk 1/2 cup vegatable oil 2 tablespoons rum/brandy (optional) 1 teaspoon of vanilla Then stir in: 1 -1 1/2 cups chopped fresh pears (can use canned too :) ) 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (optional) Bake until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 40-45 minutes. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes on rack before inverting cake onto serving dish. ENJOY!!!!
