Ingredients: 1 cup butter (unsalted) 1 1/2 cup sugar 2 large eggs 2 3/4 cup flour 2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla (extract) 2 tablespoon sugar 2 tablespoon cinnamon What you need: 2 large bowls, 1 small bowl, 1+ 9×13 baking sheet, cooling rack (optional). Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350°F and let butter soften in large bowl. 2. Mix butter and sugar in large bowl. 3. Beat in eggs one at a time. 4. Combine dry ingredients (flour, cream of tartar, salt) in a second bowl. 5. Blend dry ingredients into butter mixture. 6. Mix vanilla into dough. 7. Chill dough and ungreased cookie sheet(s) for 10 minutes. 8. While dough chills, mix 2 tbs. sugar and 2 tbs. cinnamon in small bowl. 9. Scoop 1 inch (diameter) balls of dough into sugar-cinnamon mixture and roll until satisfactorily coated. 10. Place dough on chilled ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 11-12 minutes. 11. Remove from pan immediately and cool for 5-10 minutes. Tips • All ingredients (and equipment) can be purchased at Walmart via the Saturday Shopper bus route. • If time is short, microwave the butter for 20 seconds to soften it. • If an additional spice kick is desired, mix 1 tablespoon of cinnamon evenly into the dough before chilling. • Sugar cookies can be made by baking the dough without coating it in the sugar-cinnamon mixture. • Cookies are fully baked when they are light-brown.
